This Year’s Band:
Locomotion has been a regional crowd favorite since June 1987. Over its 30 year history, the band has enjoyed success as one of southern New England's premier private event, wedding, club, and dance party bands.
Featuring two lead singers and a full horn section, Locomotion's sound is distinctly diverse, with hot dance and party tunes from the 60's right up to today. Locomotion covers hits from a huge array of artists and easily covers a variety musical styles: Rock, pop, R&B, Motown, disco, swing, jazz, and funk.
The signature sound of their powerhouse horn section can be heard on just about every song they do. But the band really shines when they cover the most famous horn bands ever: Chicago, Tower of Power, and Earth, Wind & Fire.
Over the last three decades, Locomotion has been honored to perform in CT, MA, RI, and NY at hundreds of weddings, private parties and events, corporate functions, popular clubs, casinos, outdoor summer concerts, major fairs, and charitable fund raisers for a variety of well-known organizations.
The band has been privileged to get repeat private engagements from corporate clients like Coca-Cola, United Steel Inc., Calzone Case Co., Hocon Industries, and GR-NEAM. Other notable performances include: The WTNH-TV Channel 8 Holiday Party, Trinity College Reunion Weekend, Hartford Downtown Council Riverfest Celebration, Taste of Hartford (playing on the WTIC, WZMX, WDRC stages), Waterbury Arts Festival, the Mohegan Sun Casino Tribal Recognition Gala, the Hospital of Central Connecticut Ball, and black-tie fund raiser events for the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, the Arthritis Foundation, the Hartford Jaycees, and Lawrence+Memorial Hospital (New London, CT), and regular appearances at both Connecticut casinos, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.
In addition to being nominated in the Hartford Advocate's "Grand Band Slam" as "Best Band" for 1998, 1999, and 2000, Locomotion was also named "Best Band In Connecticut 2003" by Connecticut Magazine.
In 2012, Locomotion had the distinct privilege to play the wedding of Broadway stage and screen movie actor Christopher Denham, a rising star who appeared in the 2010 Martin Scorsese film "Shutter Island" (starring Leonardo DiCaprio) and in the 2012 blockbuster film "Argo" (directed by and starring Ben Affleck).
The band has enjoyed sharing the stage with other national and local celebrities as well, including Chris Berman (ESPN), Orleans (from the upstate New York area who had hits like Still the One and Love Takes Time), Steve Young (National Football League), Rico Brogna (Major League baseball player), Phillies Fanatic (Major League Baseball Phillies mascot), legendary drummers Carmine Appice (Rod Stewart) and Bernard Purdie (Steely Dan and scores of other artists), former CT Attorney General and current U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, former CT Governor M.
